FACILITIES TEAM LEADER

A vacancy has arisen to join Hedge End Town Council caretaking team as a Team Leader. We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic person to join us.
The post is for 37 hours per week and will be on a split shift including 6am to 8am and 3.30pm to 5.30pm with a rota weekend. As this is a new post we need the successful candidate to work with the existing caretaking team on the rotas ensuring cover is in place 7 days a week from 7am to midnight depending on hire.
You will be required to carry out a range of caretaking and cleaning duties within HETC buildings, adhering to Health & Safety procedures and regulations. Duties will include the supervision of all caretaking/ cleaning staff focussing on their performance in terms of standard of cleanliness and customer service. You will be required to open halls to hirers, checking out hirers ensuring no damages. Cleaning of surfaces and sinks, brushing and wet mopping of floors and cleaning toilets.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in providing an excellent customer service for our hirers to ensure it is a welcoming environment. The ideal candidate should be:
- friendly, approachable, flexible and reliable
- experienced in managing people and teams
- conscientious with the ability to take responsibility for the standard of work carried out
- able to work under guidance and on your own initiative
- be physically fit as this is an active role

Hedge End Town Council is the largest Town Council in the Borough of Eastleigh and this is a rare opportunity to join a forward-thinking, progressive local authority. The Town Council is looking for a Grounds Team Leader to assist the Operations Manager in the efficient running of the Town Council’s open spaces ensuring all targets are consistently met.
The post is for 37 hours per week, with occasional evening and weekend work to cover events. The postholder will also be on a duty officer rota for which an allowance is paid. There is a generous pension scheme, sick pay and annual leave increasing with length of service.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- To effectively lead the ground maintenance staff including:
- Service delivery, and daily workload planning.
- Undertaking Health and Safety checks, safe systems of work, compliance with risk assessments etc.
- To ensure staff are in uniform and carrying HETC ID at all times.
- Providing operational instructions and technical support and advice.
- Assisting the Operations Manager with managing staff absence, time and attendance and performance issues.
- Provide training and mentoring of new and existing staff.
PERSON SPECIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS
- A full UK Driving licence.
- Level 3 Qualification in sports turf maintenance or equivalent experience.
- Experience of operating horticultural machinery including ride-on and pedestrian mowers, tractors, strimmer’s, line markers etc.
- Experience of working within public open spaces.
- Excellent timekeeping.
- Conscientious and the ability to lead a team.
- Ability to communicate at all levels. To ensure good Staff and Public relations are maintained and to project a friendly and co-operative image at all times.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- The post-holder must be willing and able to work unsocial hours which may be a frequent feature of this role which may include Sat/Sun/Public Holidays and evenings as required or when dealing with emergencies

The post is for 7 hours per day Saturday & Sunday with potential for overtime at the weekend and when cover is required during the week. Ideally, we would want two people on alternate days so they can cover for absence. The hours are split shifts anywhere from 7.30am to midnight depending on the hires.

Do you want to work with Children & Young People with additional needs as we are looking for a part time (3 hours per week, with an opportunity to increase) conscientious, Youth Worker to support our Youth Team Leader delivering the existing successful Friday Night Project for children and young people with additional needs for ages 13 to 24.
