CELEBRATIONS FIT FOR A QUEEN
The Queen's Platinum Jubilee in Hedge End.
Thank you to all who came to celebrate The Queen's Platinum Jubilee at our Platinum Picnic in the Park on Sunday 5th June.
A big thank you to all our entertainers - Colin Phillips Magician, Creative Capers Face Painting and Balloon Artist, Hedge End Town Council Youth Group who spent the day making over 150 crowns and Royal windmills, our two brilliant bands Warsash Concert Band and Hamwic Brass Band, Rascals Castles Bouncy Castle, North Family Arts and all the stallholders at the Craft Crawl Market, Hampshire Fire and Rescue crew from Hightown Fire Station and Hedge End Police who made the event so wonderful.
We will be featuring the event with lots of photos in the next edition of the Gazette.
HEDGE END BANDSTAND
Schoolchildren from all our local primary schools and Hedge End Town Council Youth Groups have decorated the Bandstand to commemorate each decade of The Queen's reign. This project has been kindly sponsored by Minuteman Press in Hedge End.
TREE PLANTING
The Chair of the Council will be plant a single commemorative tree in the Autumn. The location is yet to be decided.
COMMUNITY WOODLAND
As part of the Queen's Green Canopy, we have applied to the Woodland Trust to be part of the 'Plant a Tree for the Jubilee'. If successful, we will be able to plant more than 400 trees in a community woodland project. We will be inviting residents to come along and help us plant in the Autumn.
PLATINUM PUDDING
Congratulations to Jemma Melvin who won the competition to create a Platinum Pudding for the Jubilee. Her Lemon Swiss Roll and Amaretti Trifle wowed the judges, who included Mary Berry.
If you fancy having a go at making it read the recipe here. Hint: to save time perhaps you could buy
the swiss roll, lemon curd, custard and amaretti biscuits! ;)
